But management does not rest solely with the managing partner or chief executive; today all partners must make a contribution to good management. Department heads and team leaders need a wide range of management skills to be able to manage the performance of their people successfully. It is equally important to ensure that those coming through the ranks acquire the skills; the wider and deeper managerial knowledge is spread in a firm, the better able it will be to be proactive and adapt to change quickly.
