About us

The Law Consultancy Network comprises six highly experienced law firm consultants who provide a range of support designed to assist firms develop and take advantage of the changing markets they operate in.

We have advised several hundred law firms on a wide range of issues, together with Government and the professional bodies.

The Law Consultancy Network Members:

Vicky Ling is a founder member of the Civil Justice Council, Chaired by the Master of the Rolls, Sir Anthony Clarke. She advises firms in connection with quality standard compliance, in particular with regard to the requirements of the LSC and Lexcel. Her book “The Carter Survival Handbook” was published in 2007

Andrew Otterburn advises firms in connection with their profitability, management and future strategy. He also helps firms achieve Lexcel accreditation. He was an advisor to Lord Carter’s Review of Legal Aid Procurement. The second edition of his book, “Profitability & Law Firm Management” is published by the Law Society

Margaret Peasegood
is an expert in professional practice management, having provided consulting, facilitation, training and coaching services since 1994 to a wide variety of prominent firms in the service professions

Dr Heather Stewart advises firms with regard to strategy, strategic marketing, and financial and people management. She has provided in-house training to many firms on compliance with the new Practice Rules. Her book, “Excellent Client Service” is published by the Law society

Fiona Westwood provides both consultancy and coaching to a wide range of professional firms. She is a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Standards Working Party. Her book, “Accelerated Best Practice” is published by Palgrave

Simon Young is the former Chair of the LMS, and its Law Society Council member. He is an authority on LLPs and his book, “Limited Liability Partnership Handbook” was published in the Autumn of 2007. He advises firms on LLP conversion and a wide range of compliance issues
